So good even a teenager says “these vegetables are so good. They’re totally the best part of the meal.”
This may be a little long, but I wanted to share my sincere thanks for this food community. If I remember correctly we started with Good Life around 2013. My boys turned 5 and 6 that year, and while it was an adjustment arranging our meals around what fruits and veggies were in season, they hardly remember any other way now. Even though I was trained to cook by a chef in my teenage years it’s been a joy learning to cook some things I’d never tried before. Some have even become favorites (like the delicata squash). Of course I still have a few go-to dishes, especially when it’s towards the end of the week and I need to use what’s left. One of those is a chicken and vegetable curry. The other night I whipped up a stir-fry version of this, served over rice, and had some spring rolls on the side. My oldest son is now 15, but in January we got a little surprise package who is now 10 months old. It has been a joy watching him explore all kinds of new foods over the past few months (since they’re all new to him of course). The other night as he gobbled down copious amounts of chicken and veggie curry my oldest son stopped eating long enough to say, “these vegetables are so good. They’re totally the best part of the meal.” So all that to say thank you for helping me teach all three of my boys what good food really means. (I don’t know many 15-year-old boys who love, let alone extol the goodness of the veggies in their meal). Even when they do eat the entire package of blueberries before I even get one. -Daniel S.
