Regenerative Agriculture and Choosing Organic are phrases that are much more mainstream than they were a decade ago. Thanks to many crusaders for sharing their wisdom and bringing these topics to light over the last 10-20 years, these are now buzzwords that are part of the common vernacular.

One of the newest documentaries on this topic- “Kiss the Ground” on Nextflix – sums up so much of the most important aspects, all in one touching documentary.  Created and produced by the amazing Josh and Rebecca Tickell, this movie features leading authorities on agriculture and climate change who teach us how biodiversity, soil health and everyday food choices can have a positive impact on our whole civilization.

The most touching quote of the whole movie for me was “Save the soil so the soil might just save us”.

Healthy soil, without a doubt, is inextricably tied to healthy plants, healthy people, healthy water, and a healthy climate. Soil may just look like “dirt” but it is truly alive! In every handful of soil there are more microbial organisms than people that have ever lived on planet earth. WOW!

Regenerative agriculture builds resiliency into the ecosystem. Key components include crop diversity, water retention, healthy insect populations, and composting on the farming side, and choosing to eat a plant-rich diet on the consumer side. Our food choices matter, and they have a HUGE impact on not just our health, but our planet’s health too!

By choosing to support farmers who incorporate health-building, soil-building practices into their farms, every snack and meal we eat can be having a positive impact on our ecosystem.

I hope you’ll take an hour to watch this fabulous documentary to learn about how regenerative agriculture can help our world!
